Observation details
I spotted this bird while tied up at the pier immediately north of Customs and Immigration dock. The bird was chasing / harassing terns and gulls around the Customs dock - very fast and acrobatic flight - like aircraft "dogfight"; typical of Jaeger behavior which I have seen in the past. White patch on underwing. very noticeable in flight. We were able to get quite close when bird was sitting on the water. Probably a juvenile. I studied pictures and field markings quite a while before settling on Parasitic (initially thought it was a Pomarine). Could be convinced to change back. Will send photos to several more accomplished birders for their thoughts. Photo of bird lifting off the water courtesy of Wilfred Mutrie.
