Observation details
Continuing birds on the smaller mesa just north of the state park. I definitively saw three at one time, but believe there was a fourth. As per previous reports, they were foraging in flight on the northeast and northwest sides of the smaller mesa north of the park. I saw a single individual at a distance from the mesa trail that ended at the fence at 1:05 PM for a moment and then it reappeared at 1:17 PM and then flew northwest out of sight. . At a later point, I got back in my car and drove to the dirt county road that ends at the base of the smaller mesa and got much better views of the swift there as they were primarily foraging just north of the smaller mesa and difficult to see from the larger mesa trail. The three birds were seen continually from 2:15 PM until 2:45 PM when I left. The birds were cigar shaped with short wings and flying erratically. They were dark with a clear white throat and upper belly. Poor distant photo attached.
