Observation details
Bird was photographed on the rail of the deck behind The Boat House restaurant in Samburg by Kerry Speer, the owner of the restaurant. He said it was hanging out near an Eastern Phoebe. HHe did not know what species it was and took photos of it with his cell phone through the window of the restaurant, posted the pics to his personal Facebook page and was asking for ID help. This is the first reported sighting for either Tropical or Couch's Kingbird in Tennessee! Photos were sent by Ruben Stoll to Cin-Ty Lee (author of the Field Guide to North American Flycatchers) and Troy Hibbetts and both commented that they believed the bird to be a Tropical Kingbird, due to the length of the bill and a more pronounced mask.
