Observation details

Bird a little shorter in body length than a Red Wattlebird and with a shorter tail. Bill dark and down curved. Upperparts grey and much paler below. I was not able to see the purplish facial skin. The bird was in the flowering acacia on the small island at the western end of the pond and was lurking in the foliage while being harassed by a pair of Willie Wagtails. It was calling almost continuously, at first quietly and then more loudly. I managed several poor quality audio recordings in which the bird can be heard against the strong wind noise.
