Observation details
First reported as a spectacular find by Aaron Short on 11-12. The large duck was continuing and was seen just before 10 AM about 30 yards south of the third pull-off, but over 20 minutes the duck drifted towards the south and was eventually seen best from the second pull-off. The duck remained within 10 - 20 yards of the shore of the dam and was seen loosely associating with a group of American Coots. The duck was a very large duck, over twice the size of a nearby Ruddy Duck. It was a mottled light brown and black and had a large sloping forehead with a black and heavy bill. Even near the shore, it was diving frequently. Multiple photos are attached.
