Observation details
Continuing juvenile that has been in this area a few days. Thanks Sean C for hanging around and relocating it at the far left edge of the water having a big bath-fun to see! Beautiful small gull, it was seen on shore at times and struggled to stand each time it landed due to foot issue noted by others-and visible in many photos. It would fly around the mouth feeding, seemed feisty trying to get food by large gulls and a seal in the area, occasionally it flew to the far end towards the jetty but mostly was in one area of the mouth and easily seen. Depending on the lighting the pattern on the upper wings looked dark grey/black or more grey when seen in better lighting but the edge pattern formed the recognizable M shape with large white triangle area, small white tips seen in some photos in some primaries, black bill, dark back, dark grey in other areas-back of head, nape, down back of neck to breast but white down front neck. Dark tail band that looked black in all lighting. One webbed foot showed well in flight photo contrasting with damaged foot. Including a variety of photos showing different angles/behaviors. Last seen resting on shore.
