Observation details
Conservative count; it might have been 5-6 males total and a potential female or two - a lot was going on along the river since it's so dry; four is based on a count of 3 in view at once, just as I'd seen another (or two?) way higher in a hackberry in the opposite direction. At first, I thought I just had one that was going back and forth and finally got on two and then three males at once. I scanned ahead of me and this is when I saw at least a fourth and where a fifth bird but maybe one of the first three had circled back. Black head and throats, blue back and wings with white wing patch, white bellies, distinct white flash in wings when they flew and sallied in the privet and vines, roughly here: (33.4039519, -86.7564868).
