Observation details
Magnificent type, completely dark underneath. Spotted among a feeding flock of tern/noddies, flew across the bow 60-80 meters away at the closest, and stayed visible about a minute overall. ID straightforward as several of us obtained decent pictures. Structure/flight action typical of small pterodroma petrel. No possible confusion species (very unlikely Mottled Petrel would show white vent/UT coverts and less extensive dark on outer underwing). Sunny conditions, light winds.
