Observation details

Bird on water fairly close, drifting south towards Duck Harbor. Small dark loon with rounded head and striking gray nape contrasting sharply in clean line with throat, thin dark chinstrap, dark on head extending over eye. Bill obviously smaller than COLO and not chisel shaped (owing to less prominent gonydeal angle), kept at horizontal. Sadly, could not get a photo of face before bird drifted out of view, as it was spending a lot of time underwater.
