Observation details
(33.7277461, -117.9418688) Thank you Tom Wurster for finding this beauty a couple of days ago! I was one lucky lady to find Painted this morning. So, enter at northern entrance. Moving through Eucalyptus trees in area of second (not first, but close too) bench, west of the entrance dirt trail. Calling “Chu-wee” call, which caught my attention before I saw it. Seen most often about 2/3rds up the Eucalyptus. Behavior similar to Canada Warbler. Very active, sallying branch to twig, and flashing tail. If you hear the call, you can keep track of bird. Black upper parts, white lower eye arc, wide, bright white wing bar, deep red belly, gray lower belly and vent, outer white tail feathers seen when bird fans tail (often), and drops and “fans” its wings. Got a few photos.
