Observation details
33.331533,-118.335563 In fennel patch just south of the ballfield. Small colorful empid with greenish back contrasting with the grayish head, a contrasty wing panel with medium primary projections, a round head with thin eyering (only slightly elongated behind the eye), a white throat. The bill was very broad at the base and relatively short, with a good amount of pink on the lower mandible. Called "whit". From call and structure, Dusky Flycatcher the nearest confusion species, eliminated by a combination of bill shape (too broad relative to the length) and overall brightness and contrast (especially in the fall)
