Observation details
Associating with a large group of mixed sparrows next to Sauk Prairie Road, a short distance north of the coordinates where I saw the Lewis' woodpecker. This sparrow first caught my attention because of the obvious white outer tail feathers as it flew up from the ground to the scrubby bushes. Very conspicuous light eye ring, pinkish bill, streaked back. Lighting was not great at this early morning hour but I believe the photo shows a hint of rufous coloring on the lesser coverts. A VESP was reported here by Ryan M on September 13. I am uncertain whether this is the same individual.
