Observation details

Immature bird on the right side of the large pond as viewed from the observation tower. Feeding standing upright with neck extended. Stubby stout all-black bill. Crisp streaks down the neck & underparts stood out even at a distance. Small clean white spots on the wings. Posture can certainly change with herons, but the overall impression was of a slimmer more upright bird, rather than the stodgier BCNH. Poor doc photos obtained.
