Observation details
Found feeding with a large flock of House Finches and House Sparrows here: (44.6298042, -123.0873287) Seen feeding both on the sidewalk to the first base line dugout and in the dirt behind home plate and in front of the backstop. A large, upright postures sparrow with a cream breast, weak central shot mark, a dark brown cap, pale cream supercilium, dark eyeline, dusky brown auriculars, dark malar stripe. Apparent immature bird. I wasn’t sure what I was looking at at first as the bird was mixed with House Sparrows of similar size, but then the bird flew up into the chain link fence and flashed it’s extensive white tail feather tips on a long, widely fanned tail! Photos to come. This bird has very pale edges to its secondary feathers, which is quite pretty!
