Observation details
Identified by the dark ashy grey upperparts, grey rump and tail concolorous with the back, and a broad diffused dark trailing edge on the underwing with a hint of the central white panel, although the lesser and median coverts are not very grey. A striking contrast between the dark grey upperparts and the paler, more silvery fresh primaries, which are diagnostic and very visible in some images. Tail feathers of uniform duller colour, neither bright white nor have the contrast of dark and white webs. A slender blackish non-breeding plumage bill. The bird also had more bouncy flight.
