Media notes
This line is from the west edge of the Marcus Garvey summit to a point just west of the San Remo on 75th Street and Central Park West. This is where the dense flock of Chimney Swifts were seen at a distance of over 2 miles and falls in line with the West 83rd and Central Park West roost which is clearly very active.
Observation details
#21 1853 CHSW Trio well south and west of the park. Typical flight pattern. • Nice swarm in line with the flagpoles from the west edge of the summit. These were right of the twins along Central Park West through 1900 50++. See screenshot showing this is in line with the large roost at West 83rd Street and Central Park West. This is over 2 miles and visible with 8.5x42 binoculars. • Four together and heading towards the west side behind the big red building north of the park by 1912. • From closer than the southern distant flock just mentioned a group of five headed towards the park and continued north along the west side of the summit through 1920.
