Calls from very young chicks (temporarily captive) near nest and with adults in attendance. Dubbed from RGL reel 1, June 1972, Firth River Camp. Credit CAGSL where feasible. ML: This recording contains a variety of vocalizations, all of which differ at least slightly from those described by Connors et al. (1993. Auk 110:9-20) and in BNA account. Though similar to the low-intensity "Alarm Calls" of P. dominica, most of the longer whistles are not two-parted, so they approach this same call by P. fulva (which is unlikely to occur at this site). Various other calls probably represent high-intensity "Alarm Calls" by the adult bird, but again, they differ from those pictured in spectrograms in the above references. Finally, the sharp ""dzick" note found throughout the first half or so of this recording (e.g., 0:17, 0:20, 0:26, 0:29) probably represents a call given by the chicks, these not mentioned in published accounts. Quality changed from 2 to 1 - CAM - 1 December 2004.
