Observation details
Continuing find from yesterday by Jonathan Coffin. We first saw it while walking along Culver Blvd. We heard it vocalize briefly before dropping down into the plants. It sat up on a rock for a few seconds before taking off again and heading North. We saw it again at the “Seasonal Marsh” about 45 minutes later with others. Behaviorally, this bird would call only while in flight, land briefly to forage through drying marsh habitats, bounce its tail quickly up and down while on the ground, and then blast off to its next location. This bird seemed to have established a circuit that starts and ends in the “Seasonal Marsh.”
