Observation details
All perching near each other on the dead branches at the base of the south side of the island. All three had black plumage; 2 had small, oddly colored and shaped gular patches and dark lores. One briefly appeared to beg an adult double-crested cormorant for food. One also regurgitated a whole fish and dropped it back into the water. Surprisingly, it entered the water to fish again shortly after; the 3rd’s face looked the most like a double crested cormorant but had an oddly colored gular patch with the yellow extending all the way to the tip of the lower bill and only a small fleck of yellow on top of the bill. The gular patch on this one was more extensive than the other two and only slightly oddly shaped on one side (more noticeably on its left side). Sheri noticed that they appeared long tailed.
