Observation details
PRIVATE PROPERTY WITH RESTRICTED ACCESS. Contact me (Luke Thompson, ldtbirds37@gmail.com) if you want to see the bird and I will do my best to help out. Tim was scoping the main area and I wandered to check the back slough past the red bridge and relieve myself. While I was off trail in the woods having a civil discussion about a horse, I saw this Little Blue sized heron fly by, but the back was dark and the neck was pretty bright rufous. It landed and I could see the contrasting white underparts. Tim has pictures. Apparent fourth county record. Baylor first. Bird flew soon after I found it, and we weren’t able to relocate. I would guess it’s still in the area though.
