Observation details
Flagged as rare? Tentative ID, reporting if others want to look for it. Not familiar with birds here this time of year or pelicans at all but... pics with point and shoot will be uploaded later. Just cellphone for now, along the shore swimming northwest for about 10 minutes from English Bay Beach then flew over seawall right around the area where the heron colony tennis courts are. Addendum 8/1/24 2120: Added a few pictures from my point and shoot camera. Beautiful bird and grateful I got to watch it through the binoculars quite a bit. Unfortunately it's eye was just barely lit in a single photo, all the other ones it had its head slightly angled away. Full frame pics, no crops or edits. 42x optical zoom. Canon SX520 HS. On my way back along the seawall around 4pm I did not see it again though I ran into a friendly local birder out looking for it. Hope its still in the area for others to enjoy. It flew away from beach over seawall and made several circles before disappearing from my view.
