Observation details
*Flagged as rare: recording obtained. This is only the third KEWA observed in eBird in Pennypack since 1998 (the other two were in April 2024 and May 2018). It’s also the first one I’ve seen in PA since my lifer in May 2006. I heard the bird sing almost as soon as we entered Warbler Corner, but it was singing very sporadically, and it took a while to home in on where the song was coming from and get close enough for others to hear it. After much effort, we were fortunately able to get a few good views of the bird as it moved within and between some areas of dense undergrowth in the back of Warbler Corner. Green above, yellow below, distinctive black mask.
