Observation details
A total of 3 Sterna were observed and we tried photographing them from the rocking boat. This was somewhere near the African Baza ship in waters. One of the photograph was confirmed by Shri Ashwin Vishwanathan. They appear to be the same birds photographed by Mr Rahul Pereira. Please refer his notes for detailed reference. The photographs have been reviewed by a total of 3 experts - Shri Ganpule, Abhinandan C. and Ashwin Vishwanathan. Story - After narrowly missing out the same tern at Morya Mandir earlier, our group and Rahul's group discussed the possibility of trying to nail any Sterna sp. so that they can be positively separated from sympatric Common Terns. This happens to be the third attempt of chasing this illusive and rare White-cheeked. Hope to see more of this in next trips.
