Observation details
This may not be a record to be kept, but it is interesting. When walking to the bird blind I found a bunch of feathers on the walkway that were Barn Owl. Clearly something predated the bird, my guess is a Great Horned Owl as both species are in the area (I saw a Barn Owl on the CBC on Jan 2 (?) about 400 meters from the blind and have seen GHO several times nearby including a nest about 800 m away). Interestingly I was at Ridgefield on July 18 (4 days before this find) and there were no Barn Owl feathers present at that time. So this was a very recent case of predation. I would guess, but the scattering and the condition of the feathers, that the owl died about July 20.
