Observation details
Original observers: Otto Devitt, Ewart Brereton, W. Smith. First confirmed breeding record for Muskoka. In June of 1943, Devitt, Brereton, and Smith found a nest on the ground in a sphagnum bog with two eggs in it north of Bella Lake (Alex Mills. 1981. A Cottager's Guide to the Birds of Muskoka and Parry Sound; Specimen #505437 collection tags). The birds were building the nest on 22 June, and on 26 June two eggs were in it. The nest and eggs are now in the collection of the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, #505437.
