Observation details
4 at Beaver/Fen. 3 with avocet closer to Roesser. Drove back to confirm 2 locations. Based on other reports, observation, bar chart. Seeming to lack barring although quite orange/rufous. Additional notes 7/9 and review of Shorebird Guide. These birds although looking robust at times seemed to show slimmer shape overall. Backs looking horizontal when feeding. OBrien suggests that the spotting alkng flanks of these birds is not present in LBDO. The breast especially at neck area through belly more orange than salmon with a clean top to some spotting/bars along sides. Bar chart and literature suggests SBDO typically precede LBDO. A couple of these birds showed what seemed exceptionally long bills however I would guess these are females who can overlap bill length with LBDO
