Observation details
Continuing; first reported here with another Skimmer by Ian Reid yesterday. When I first saw this bird, it was standing on the beach in the middle of the spit, but most of the time I observed this beautiful bird it was standing at the edge of the water, occasionally flying short distances, mostly to move to higher ground as the tide rose. Occasionally the bird was harassed by a common tern. A couple of times the bird made a short bark-like vocalization. For a little while the bird tried to sleep. I never saw the bird feed (though one time I thought it was going to); hopefully it is okay. Pics
