Observation details
Only two COTEs stood on the rock. Photos on eBird. We canoed all around the rock but did not see any eggs or chicks. Dale and Lewis said that 5 years ago there were a dozen Terns. Four days ago we saw 4 Terns. Every spring the Terns fight with the Gulls in order to nest on the rock. And up to 10 days ago, they had been dive-bombing when people canoed in too closely. But Dale and Lewis said that the people on shore don't like the Terns because they are too noisy, so people have been known to destroy the eggs. Looks like that happened recently.
