Observation details
Presumably an occupied nest as I accidentally flushed a LENI from this spot earlier in the day and it returned later on. My wife said (after the fact) that she’d seen one there earlier in the week. All About Birds says “Female Lesser Nighthawks lay their eggs on the ground, often in areas with small pebbles. They tend to place the eggs on the north side of a small bush or overhanging branch either in full sun or partial shade.”, which fits this site on all counts. Digiscoped photos
