Observation details
Continuing. During 3 visits this day to the intersection of Kignak St and Iigu St I observed the snipe perched on top of a utility pole, displaying/winnowing, bathing in water as well as feeding next to the road. Identification features observed, and evident in the photos, include: 12 rectrices (at least that is all I could count); very wide white tips to the secondaries (very noticeable in flight); extensive white 'bands' across the greater, medium and lesser underwing coverts; axillaries with thin black bands less than half the width of the intervening white bands; outer rectrices noticeably wider than the other rectrices, and with 3 dark bands with much wider intervening white bands. Note I saw the bird at this same site on 28 June.
