Observation details
Lifer! Medium woodpecker with dark barred back and prominent cheek patch. Even saw red patch on one male with close and distinctive looks. Really a fantastic experience to watch these birds in their native habitat. 3 individuals seen behind private residence opposite Rt 145 from Bee Lake. At one point all 3 in the same tree. One individual appeared to be unbanded. At least 3 additional individuals on nest northeast of Bee Lake. Banded Male and Female regularly visiting to feed young that were constantly calling. Not sure exactly how many chicks, but at least one. Photos to come
