Observation details
Fledgling photographed and recording calling. Olive above, yellow below. No obvious markings on face. Undertail not observed. The bird was in dense shrubbery 3-4 feet above the ground. It moved a few times, several minutes apart. The calls sound slightly sharper or higher pitched (more chip than chup) than most recordings I can find for this species, but otherwise the spectrograms line up well. Eventually an adult approached, giving a repeated deeper "chup" call. I didn't see that bird well beyond its olive back. I was hoping to see it get fed, but when the adult neared the fledgling, they flew off together strongly, low through the brush then across the trail where I lost them. Similarly patterned warblers I found at this location were Hooded and Common Yellowthroat, which both sound quite different.
