Observation details
First detected/identified by voice. Giving SKOW calls at somewhat long and regular intervals as it flew just above the cypress trees along the NW shoreline. Camera and phone were in the drybag and I only had time to grab one or the other. Managed a few bad photos before it disappeared. Feet extend well beyond tail, dark grey flight feathers, mostly dark bill, long skinny neck, much more lanky looking as compared to the overall squat and stocky build of BCNH. On the last picture I did a post hoc increase of the exposure and jacked up the brightness to try and more clearly show the narrow streaking below and some of the other traits
