Observation details
first time seeing in henan, first time getting good photos of this species, and first time hearing its song!!! super funky but beautiful song, not as high whistle quality as brownish flanked but rather gives more mournful feels. stopped bike for smth and immediately heard its strange song, thought it was a weird brownish flanked at first but it was too different so I searched for different bush warblers songs in merlin until seeing this. not exactly the same because the one in merlin is from russian breeder, but generally structure matches, with low, broken long note lead in with jumbled higher notes. heard it quite a while down low and tried playback of two different calls and the song on merlin, didn't respond for a while and I looked at the aegithalos tits flock instead, until i realized the song was coming from somewhere high, until I finally spotted the bush warbler high on a tree at the top part of the little slope I was at, it was swaying a LOT in the wind, very stongly blowing gust and quite surprisingly that it managed and was willing to stay there on the branch. not entirely sure if it came up in response to my playback. looked at it for a good long while through camera manual focus zoom and got some nice pics, and recorded a LOt of its song. it later moved further north along the bushes out of the tree. heard again when I was riding back later from pvc3
