Observation details
Adult male, singing from small firs near picnic table (sounded like a HEWA to me...) as we were eating. Once I finished my sandwich and got camera out it had quit singing and was just foraging. Black throat, mostly yellow face (slight hint of dark in lores and auricular patch from some angles), black on back of crown, getting spotty toward front, and black streaking on flanks. No yellow on chest.
