Observation details
A 2.5 year old BAEA flew over the reservoir, circled low, caught a prey item something off the water, and circled off and flew away. All the while an adult BAEA sitting in the oak grove at the northwest corner paid no attention to it. I identified the immature BAEA as a 2.5 year old based on the following: dark breast contrasting with a much paler throat and the whitish inverted triangular patch on the mantle, visible in the lousy images I made. I want to blame the camera, but I think it was the operator. The eagle has vegetation hanging off of its feet because that's what it grabbed when it snatched some food from the water surface.
