Observation details
Smaller thrasher type profile, somewhat reminiscent of our catharus thrushes, upperside and tail plain grayish brown overall, underside white with distinct blackish streaky spots, sides of the breast and lower flanks showing a hint of buffyness, light throat with a thin black stripe on each side, shorter slightly down curved bill, obvious yellow iris. We had great looks as it casually foraged for bugs along the grassy road edge. Found by Kathleen Dvorak, who was kind enough to stay with it as we raced out in hopes of catching it!
