Media notes
Adult male towhee making atypical vocalization. Singing/calling at central meadow's edge changing to opposite side. Repeated this sound for at least 5 minutes continuing to make the same vocalization after changing to the second location. One location high in younger walnut tree, the other at top of young oak.
Observation details
Male observed making an odd call/ song. Repeated this vocalization from 2 different perches for at least 5 minutes. Recording and video. On return normal song heard in same area although bird unseen. Towhee heard at approximately 2, 11, 26, 33 and 40 seconds. In person the sound had a percussive quality that does not really come through in the recording.
