Observation details
These were small to medium, relatively long and narrow-winged molting adult gulls with black or partially gray heads, gray upper wings, dark bills and legs, prominent white eye-arcs, and black primaries. It's unclear as to how many Franklin's Gulls I saw. There were definitely four different birds, but perhaps as many as eight. A pair briefly visited the ponds just after I'd arrived, but then this same two or perhaps another pair returned about 15-20 minutes later. Another (or the same) pair then showed up again about 40 minutes later, and an apparent different pair of these gulls arrived at about 12:30. The gulls never stayed longer than about a minute or two and never landed on the water. Photos.
