Observation details
Heard by the small parking lot as soon as we arrived. Adult male drumming and then the squeaky pik calls. Photos. Video if they let me post it eventually. That tail! So gorgeous. Tiny red patch at back of crown/head, muddy gray front. Associating (feeding/carrying food) with a cute juvenile with a washed/stained brown chin and nasal patch. They were being followed by an immature Nuttal’s. So woodpeckery today.
