Observation details
Male and female both seen; two males counter-singing. The female indeed abruptly leave after he sang into her ear, as the species account from Birds of the World suggests: "The male leans toward the female and makes a loud call into their ear, generally making the female leave (Snow, 1977)." Fascinating strategy for courtship if the female leaves immediately after he sings for her. How is she not deaf?
