Observation details
**MEGA** Continuing, found by Ian Baldock previous day. Seen well by dozens from Sailor's Point and elsewhere around lake. Distinctive shape, brown overall, lighter underparts. Appears to be a first-year bird; does not exhibit the sharp cut-off between the white belly and brown head of adult. Bird showing heavily-worn tail feathers. Seen plunging into water from ~20-30 ft. out at around 7:00am (just beyond row of canoes and kayaks adjacent to Sailor's Point ramp). Otherwise, bird mostly settled on water, flying occasionally. First publicly chaseable record for PA; all previous record either of transient flying birds or on private property.
