Observation details
wow. first time seeing one since I was a kid. wasn't visible when I first arrived but waiting ten 15 minutes and it all of a sudden appeared on my 6th or 7th scan of fence posts on South side of road. a New Life Bird. vocalizing and hopping from fence post to fence post. amazing seeing it change posture from upright and alert to scrunched down and docile. beautiful scalloped back. long long legs. great beak opening when it vocalizes. curious face. barring down flanks extends quite far back. interesting dark streak extending from behind eye towards back of head frequently shifting between grass and posts. if it's not here when you get here, just wait for awhile and it will pop out. only seeing one at a time so not sure abound where the second reported one is. maybe they're swapping positions on the fence post/grass patrol
