Larger, longer billed, lighter color overall, red of face extends horizontally from eye before angling up (on most individuals although this varies: https://www.sibleyguides.com/2021/03/distinguishing-subspecies-of-sandhill-crane/) and more contrast on cheek compared with canadensis.
