Observation details
The Thrasher was found earlier this morning by the IBO researchers. I submitted my initial eBird checklist this afternoon following a failed search for the bird. As I walked back to the car, I spotted it from the gravel access road. A robin sized orange/brown bird with a yellow eye, curved bill, two white wing stripes and spotted front. It flew from a small willow to a cottonwood and back. I grabbed my camera, fired off a burst, and then got an unwanted surprise. There was no SD card in the camera! After minutes of searching for a card, I found one. However, I had lost sight of the bird. I was heartbroken. I sat down on my stool and after several minutes the Thrasher reemerged from the small willow and I got a few decent photos before it flew towards the river. It never made a sound.
