Observation details

Small heron with gray body, striated dark and light gray wings and back, black head with cream-colored cheeks and crest, orange legs. A very cooperative bird - stood still about 6 feet away from me for many minutes - right beside the viewing/seating area at the pond that is next to the lower parking area. Photos.
