Observation details
First heard a call I wasn't familiar with in a tree above me. Before I could get on it, the bird flew across the valley where I found it in a distant tree. Very distant photos show a male Summer Tanager transitioning from olive green to red body, still with patches of olive-green especially in the belly area, and back of head. Wings were still an olive green and the bill was a light color. Didn't notice check patches, which along with the light color bill eliminated Hepatic Tanager. I considered Scarlet Tanager but the wings seemed to be too light for Scarlet. Location approximately: 32.8324715,-117.0922738
