Observation details
Thrilling chase! Arrived at SPSP at 1725. The sun had just dipped below the trees. I pulled up to the beach and was immediately told by a park ranger that the beach was closing. I told them I just wanted to check the gulls, which apparently was a reasonable-enough request. Four flocks, each ranging from 45-90 LAGU. Struck out on each one. Then I saw a gull slightly north, all on its own somewhat aggressively foraging (39.0112381, -76.3958030). Success! Partially hooded (which makes it easy to pick out from 95% of LAGU), obviously bolder white eye arcs than any LAGU, and spotting on primary tips that makes it unmistakable from LAGU. Unfortunately it was flushed and flew north/west toward what I think is called the East beach. Photos.
