Observation details
Paul alerted me to the possibility of this being an Eastern Wood-Pewee. When I saw the bird I thought the lower mandible looked bright and extensive, the front looked pale and lightly vested rather than the dusky vested look of a WWPE, also the wing bars looked well defined. Unfortunately, I have no recordings of this bird. I was aware of the different call since the June 5th bird had been found, so I paid attention, but it was silent. Because there is so much variation in WWPE and the rarity of the Eastern bird, I couldn't imagine this being another one. But then the June 9th bird was found, so thinking maybe this birds needs further review. Including photos.
