Observation details
I'd been noticing the large number of terns in this area of the river including a heightening of cries and harrassment of, or at least escorting, an eagle which flew over. Terns were perching on logs and landing on the sand and in the vegetation growing in the middle. Two arrived with fish, one endlessly circling and making a pass at another on the sand, another landing and disappearing in the grass. Twice I was bombarded from my location some distance away on a neighboring bar. It certainly hints of nesting, but surely it is flooded at high water?
